Persephone is a dual goddess. Also known as Kore, she is the queen of the Underworld but also the goddess of vegetation, bringing spring and abundant harvests to the world. She serves as the inspiration for Katarina Žutić’s solo exhibition, which will be showcased at the eighth Kontakt – a conference, showcase, and festival.
Katarina Žutić will be presenting her works for the first time in Belgrade in a combined technique, at Dorćol Platz, from March 19 to April 8, 2024. The exhibition is titled “Persephone’s Garden.”
At the “Persephone’s Garden” exhibition, which Katarina will open on March 19 at 7 PM at Dorćol Platz, nature is the central theme.
“Persephone’s Garden” focuses on humanity’s careless relationship with nature, particularly with trees. Often, from these oversized hands, a tree grows, a sprout emerges, or some white death oozes, sinking into the underworld. I believe that trees are a connection between our ancestors and us. We bury ourselves in the earth, and it is from that earth that trees grow,” Katarina explained.
