Photography offers the possibility of preserving the experience of a moment forever, but it also contributes to our understanding of that time, as it is no longer part of the immediate flow of events. Photography allows us to, in a way, distance ourselves from reality, as it transforms into an objective representation, independent of us and the time in which it was created.

Students are initiating blockades at universities across Serbia. The public supports them in these blockades and protests, and the boycott of classes gradually spreads to most high schools and elementary schools. Students have organized protest gatherings that are attracting an increasing number of citizens, accompanied by strong emotions and creative iconography.

The photographs you see before you capture the atmosphere, emotions, energy, empathy, creativity, determination, and unity that the students have awakened in the people. The dynamics of the events the photographs capture grow, and by the end of the exhibition, the display will be updated with newly created works.

The Association of Applied Arts and Design Artists of Serbia was founded in 1953 on the initiative of prominent artists. In 1964, sections were formed by professions, and artistic photography is one of them. Today, the Section of Artistic Photography has 88 regular members, and some of them are presenting their work in this exhibition.
