The exhibition “Zaštićeni Prajd” presents moments that unfolded on September 17, 2022, capturing the spirit of EuroPride. Through carefully selected evocative photographs by @IMG_Dawood and poignant quotes from Dr. Slotmakers’ research on Pride politics in Serbia, the exhibition aims to create a space for reflection and exploration. It serves as a platform for sharing personal experiences and stimulating dialogue about EuroPride and its political significance.

Artist Dawood (@IMG_Dawood) documented the powerful moments of EuroPride 2022, highlighting the most impactful themes of the day. Reflecting on the photographs, Dawood says: “On September 17, I went out to capture a day that was already known to be historic; going through the photos with Kuno the next day, we saw so much strength and beauty that we had captured. Kuno’s insight brought life into these photographs and inspired me to display them in honor of our community.”

Dr. Kun Slotmakers, an academic specializing in LGBT politics in Serbia, complemented the exhibition with his decades-long research and thought-provoking writings. Dr. Slotmakers explains: “Observing the twists and changes that the politics of EuroPride 2022 had, I couldn’t help but notice how the events of that week were haunted by the politics of Pride from the past. I felt as though the entire history of Belgrade Pride had unfolded at once – as if time had collapsed in on itself. Yet, it left me wondering – what exactly is EuroPride?”
