“Woman has always been, undeniably, the greatest stimulus for the human mind and human energy. She is an inspirer like God and nature…”

J. Dučić

Women are an eternal and inexhaustible inspiration for artists in visual arts, literature, and music. Wars have even been waged for the love of a woman.

Women are our mothers, sisters, girlfriends, wives, colleagues, friends… they create and move, doing everything to make this world exist…

These “Belgrad Women” are precisely those women who, in addition to all the above, further beautify this city in various ways… with a gentle smile, they mute the noise of sirens and engines; with a fashion detail and a combination that colors a gray day, with a confident and firm step, they make the sidewalk tremble, correcting all existing unevenness. With a gaze that disarms any harshness and evokes sympathy, guided by the current inner feeling, they breathe life into the city and prevent its rhythm from being disturbed.

Six decades ago, photographers in our city, brothers Branislav and Jovan Đorđević, were working and creating, and among other subjects, Belgrad Women were constantly in their lens. They captured and left us tens of thousands of photographs of our fellow citizens.

Thanks to my acquaintance with Branka Đorđević, Jovan’s daughter, I had the opportunity to see some of these photographs. They inspired me to also capture, through photography, the steps and smiles of our fellow citizens, rescuing them from oblivion.

Thus, this exhibition was created, dedicated to the mentioned authors, Branislav, unfortunately deceased, and Jovan Đorđević.
This exhibition is dedicated to them in honor, with great respect for their work and contributions, as well as for them personally.
